Brett Guthrie was born February 18, 1964. Guthrie attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, graduating in 1987 with a Degree in Economics. Upon graduation, he served as a Field Artillery Officer in the 101st Airborne Division - Air Assault at Fort Campbell. Guthrie later earned a Master's Degree from Yale University in Public and Private Management. First elected to public office in 1998, Guthrie represented the 32nd District in the Kentucky Senate. Brett Guthrie won his current seat in an open seat general election in 2008.
