Jim Costa was born on April 13, 1952 in Fresno, California. In 1974, Costa received his Bachelor degree in political science from California State University, Fresno. He was a member of the California Assembly from 1978-1994. Costa worked in the California State Senate from 1994-2002. In 2004, Jim Costa was elected to the United States House of Representatives. Jim Costa won a razor-thin race against Andy Vidak in 2010, but had a more comfortable margin in 2012.
