Louie Buller Gohmert, Jr. was born August 18, 1953 in Pittsburg, Texas. He received his B.A. from Texas A&M University, where he was Brigade Commander in the Corps of Cadets. Two years later, in 1977, he received his Juris Doctor from Baylor University in Waco, TX. Gohmert served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, at Fort Benning, Georgia, from 1978 to 1982. He was elected as 7th district judge in Smith County (Tyler) in 1992 and won re-election two times before Governor Rick Perry appointed him an appeals court judge for the 12th Circuit. Louie Gohmert was elected to Congress in 2004.
