Sam Johnson was born October 11, 1930 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Southern Methodist University. He served a 29-year career in the United States Air Force; he is a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a fighter pilot. He was held as Prisoner of War in Hanoi for nearly 7 years. Sam Johnson was elected to Congress in a special election in 1991 and serves as a senior Member of the Ways and Means Committee.
