Senator Claire McCaskill graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1975 with a BA in Political Science. In 1978 she earned her Juris Doctor from the Law School. From 1982-1988, McCaskill served in Missouri's State Legislature. In 1993 she became the Prosecutor for Jackson County and from 1999-2007, she served as the Missouri Auditor. In 2006, Senator McCaskill was the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Missouri. She was the Chairwoman of the Senate Select Committee for the Impeachment of Samuel B. Kent, which disbanded in 2009 with the resignation of Judge Kent. In 2012, Claire McCaskill won re-election over Rep. Todd Akin.
