Garland Tucker grew up in Wilson, a small town in eastern North Carolina. He attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia then earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. A successful businessman, he founded and built two companies. From 2001 to 2016, Garland served as CEO of Triangle Capital Corporation, a New York Stock Exchange listed company. After retiring, he continued to serve as a Director of the company until Triangle Capital was sold to Barings in 2018 for $1 billion.

 

Tucker has published two books, The High Tide of American Conservatism: Davis, Coolidge and the 1924 Election and Conservative Heroes: Fourteen Leaders Who Changed America, from Jefferson to Reagan. His op-eds and articles have been published in American Spectator, National Review and other publications. He has served on the board of the conservative Civitas Institute and as a Senior Fellow at the conservative John Locke Foundation. He also served on the boards of the Trinity School for Ministry (Pittsburgh), the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation and the Fellowship of Christians in Universities and Schools. And he was the founding Senior Warden of Holy Trinity Anglican Church.

 

Garland Tucker and his wife, Greyson, live in Raleigh. They have two daughters and six grandchildren.
