Kim Myers [D, NY-22]
District 22, New York

Kim Myers has dedicated her life to her region and community, both in public service and elected office. She was born and raised in Binghamton and grew up working with her dad and four siblings in their family business, Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The values of hard work, honesty, integrity and giving back to her community were learned early. After graduating from SUNY Cortland, Kim returned home to help grow and expand her family’s business. She later developed a children’s clothing department within Dick’s, and started her own small business, Kids Korner Inc., a children’s clothing and educational toy store in Binghamton.

Kim and her husband Tim have been married for 35 years and have six children. This has brought regular PTA work and service on school committees, as well as being "room mom" in her kids' grade school years, and "team mom" for their sports activities. For nine years, Kim worked on the Vestal Elementary School Planning Team, and the Myers house has always been the destination of choice for her kids' classmates.

Alongside raising her family and operating her small business, Kim served for 18 years on the Vestal Central School District Board of Education—eight of those years as president. Through Kim’s leadership during challenging budget years, the school district earned and kept an A+ “fiscal stability” rating from the New York State Comptroller, while maintaining quality educational opportunities for students.

Following her service on the school board, Kim was elected to the Broome County Legislature, where she put her business experience and community leadership background to good use. She immediately went to work bringing people together to push for more economic development in the region and to improve quality of life for families. When elected, Kim was the only woman in the county legislature.
