Beth Van Duyne earned a B.A. in city and regional planning and government and law from Cornell University. Her professional experience includes work as a consultant. Beth Van Duyne is running for election to the U.S. House to represent Texas' 24th Congressional District. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 3, 2020. She advanced from the Republican primary on March 3, 2020.

 

Van Duyne was the Mayor of Irving in Texas. She assumed office in 2011. She left office in 2017. Van Duyne was the mayor of Irving, Texas, from 2011 to 2017 and a member of the Irving City Council from 2004 to 2010. Although municipal elections in Irving are officially nonpartisan, The Texas Tribune identified Van Duyne as a member of the Republican Party.

 

Beth Van Duyne announced on February 16, 2017, that she would not run for re-election to a third term as mayor. On March 30, 2017, she announced that she would be joining the Trump administration. She was officially named a regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on May 8, 2017.
