Congressman
Rep. Mark Amodei [R, NV-2]
for
District 2, Nevada

About

Mark Amodei emerged as the winner of Nevada's 2nd Congressional District special election held in September 2011, easily sweeping past Democrat Kate Marshall in this economically-wounded state. Amodei took 58 percent of the vote to his opponent's 36 percent. He won the general election 58 to 36% over Samuel Koepnick.

In 2011, Democrats said that the rural northern Nevada district did what it has always done and sent a Republican to Congress, and the GOP heralded the the election as a victory against President Barack Obama.

Mark Amodei's 2012 race margin, even with Obama on the ballot, was nearly the same as in 2011.
