Doctor Raul Ruiz graduated magna cum laude from UCLA.  He became the first Latino to receive three Master’s degrees from Harvard.  In 2007, he worked as an emergency physician at Eisenhower Medical Center.  He then became the Senior Associate Dean at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine.  He founded a pre-med mentorship program called the Future Physician Leaders program.  

In 2012, Raul Ruiz upset incumbent Republican Representative Mary Bono Mack 51 to 49%.
