Scott DesJarlais is a member of the U.S. House, representing Tennessee's 4th Congressional District. He assumed office on January 5, 2011. His current term ends on January 3, 2021.


DesJarlais is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Tennessee's 4th Congressional District. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 3, 2020. He advanced from the Republican primary on August 6, 2020.


DesJarlais was first elected to office in 2010 during the tea party wave, defeating the incumbent, Lincoln Davis (D). In 2014. DesJarlais won his party primary by less than 40 votes. In 2016, he earned the nomination by 4,000 votes. He won his most recent general election by 69,000 votes.


Scott DesJarlais was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and has bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of South Dakota.
