Shelia Jackson Lee was born on January 12, 1950 in Queens, New York. In 1972, Sheila received her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Yale University. In 1975, she earned her law degree from the University of Virginia. Sheila was the Houston Municipal Judge from 1987-1989. She was a member of the Houston City Council from 1990-1995. Sheila was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1994. Sheila Jackson Lee serves on House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees, where she chairs the Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection and the Foreign Affairs Committee.
