Roger Williams was raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a star basketball player forthe Texas Christian University from 1968 to 1971 and made a brief attempt to playprofessionally with the Atlanta Braves farm team. Afterward, Mr. Williams returned to Texas to coach TCU’s team, this was before he ventured on a career in business and public affairs. His first step in the business world was when he joined his father at the family automobile dealership.Mr. Williams was appointed to the Texas Motor Vehicle Board by Governor Perryand was appointed by Lieutenant Governor Bill Ratliff to the Special Committee onState Employee Compensation and Benefits.

 

Roger Williams served as the Secretary of State of Texas from January 2005 until hisresignation on July 1st, 2007. During his time in office he served as Perry’s chief liaisonto Mexico and the Border Region of Texas; in this capacity, he worked with Mexicanfederal, state, and local officials on common issues. Roger Williams won election to Congress in 2012.
