Dean Heller was born May 10, 1960, in Castro Valley, California. A graduate of Carson High School, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, specializing in finance and securities analysis, from the University of Southern California in 1985. He served two terms in the Nevada Assembly from 1990 to 1994. Heller was elected Secretary of State of Nevada in 1994, and was re-elected in 1998 and 2002. He was elected to Congress in 2006, and appointed a US Senator in 2011.

 

Dean Heller won his seat by election over Representative Shelley Berkley in 2012 by 46 to 44.7%.  He is up for re-election in 2018.
