Senator Dianne Feinstein was the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate in California and has served since 1992. Prior to this, she was a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (1970-1978), where she became the first woman president. In 1978, she became the first woman Mayor of San Francisco and served until 1988. Dianne Feinstein is the Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
