Senator Jack Reed graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a BS in 1971. He attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and received a Masters of Public Policy. He resigned from the Army as a Captain in 1979. He enrolled in Harvard Law School and graduated in 1982. He returned to Rhode Island and served in the State Senate for three terms starting in 1984. From 1991-1997, Reed served three terms as a Member of the House of Representatives for Rhode Island's 2nd Congressional District. In 1996, Jack Reed was elected to the U.S. Senate.
