Jeanne Shaheen received her BA from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and her Masters from the University of Mississippi. She worked on several campaigns before deciding to run for office in 1990. She served as Governor of New Hampshire from 1997-2003 and chose not to run for another term. In 2003 she was the National Chairperson of John Kerry's 2004 Presidential campaign. In 2005, Shaheen was the Director of Harvard's Institute of Politics. Jeanne Shaheen assumed office of the U.S. Senate in 2009 becoming the first woman to be elected Governor and a U.S. Senator.

 

Jeanne Shaheen is up for re-elect in 2014.
