Senator Jim Risch attended the University of Idaho where he received his BS in Forestry (1965) and his Judis Law (1968). In 1970, Risch began his public service career when he was elected to two terms as Ada County Prosecuting Attorney. In 1975, he was elected to the Idaho State Senate where he served 11 terms. Jim Risch served as Governor of Idaho from 2006-2007 and as Lieutenant Governor from 2007-2009. Senator Jim Risch was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2008, assuming his Senate seat in 2009.
