Marsha Blackburn was born on June 6, 1952 in Laurel, Mississippi. She is married and has two children. She earned her B.S. in home economics from Mississippi State University in 1973. She was the Williamson County Republican Party chairwoman from 1989-1991, in the Tennessee Senate from 1999-2002, and was elected to the U.S. House in 2002. 

 

Marsha Blackburn ran and won for the US Senate seat vacated by former incumbent Sen. Corker; she beat former TN Governor Phil Bredesen in November 2018, becoming Tennessee's first female US Senator.
