Senator Pat Roberts attended Kansas State University, graduating in 1958. He served for four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, departing as a Captain. When he left the service, Pat Roberts worked as a reporter and editor for several Arizona newspapers. In 1980, he was elected to Congress and served from 1981-1997. Pat Roberts was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996 and assumed office in 1997. Pat Roberts is facing Independent candidate Greg Orman in the general election.
