Pat Leahy is the first Democrat to serve in the U.S. Senate from Vermont. He assumed his U.S. Senate seat in 1974 and is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary. He graduated from Saint Michaels College in 1961 and received his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 1964. Pat Leahy served for eight years as State Attorney in Chittenden County.
